About La Costa Solutions
My name is Patti Hopkins and I previously owned and operated La Costa Solutions for Women Sober Living Home in Carlsbad for 14 years. I loved this experience and what a journey it was! The structure in our home was definitely about getting and staying sober… but the real focus was on how to do that! Stopping is the easy part…staying stopped is about a number of things.
La Costa Solutions is an off shoot from La Costa Solutions for Women. This Accountability Program was a step down Program for clients transitioning out of LCSW. It created a bridge of transition & support when returning to their homes or whatever living situation they were going to.
Treatment is a bubble. Easy to stay sober. Sober living is relatively easy. Eyes on, testing, curfews, etc. Going home? Being alone? Returning to a spouse, kids? A whole different ballgame.

I am an alcoholic. After years of denying this fact and years of relapsing… I finally admitted I was definitely alcoholic and needed to stop drinking once and for all! I had been in an Outpatient Treatment Program and went to Patti’s sober living house for one on one meetings with her for added and more personal support. When I finally decided to go all in with a sober program one thing she said to me stuck in my brain. “There is a fork in the road we know where one path leads… to heartache and destruction. Let’s try the other path, there’s Hope at the end of that path.” So I chose the path with Hope at the end. With a Higher Power, Prayer and a good program… I have been sober over a year with hard work and dedication and I’ve never been happier or healthier! I truly love the community and shared experiences we all have and growing together.

After decades of suffering from Alcoholism, I met Patti Hopkins at La Costa Solutions for Women. In 2016 I began my journey to a new sober life. With a program of AA, sponsors and being held accountable I was able to stay sober for short periods of time. As I struggled with my sobriety I would complete the first 3 steps, most times getting a little amount of time sober then relapse. Then Patti came to me one day and threw a pad in front of me and said, “you’re doing a Step 4”. This was my beginning of a spiritual journey to my life today – free from the clutches of alcohol. Through this journey I have learned that each day is a gift filled with Hope, Faith and Love. My passion now is supporting others on their own personal journeys!

It is a true pleasure to have the opportunity to work with Patti in this unique aspect of treatment. I believe Patti has found the solution to a problematic barrier to aftercare success. Accountability and support are key factors to achieving a successful outcome following treatment, or at any stage of the recovery process. Patti’s team has an excellent history of filling the needs and missing components to successful long term recovery, the outcomes are truly remarkable.

I am originally from Las Vegas, NV and moved to San Diego in 2012. Prior to my alcoholism taking over my life, I was a Top Ranked Tennis Player, attended UCSB on a Scholarship and graduated with a BA in Sociology. I was a Social Worker in Las Vegas. I got sober and managed 2 Women’s Sober Living Homes. During this time, I went to school to get licensing for Drug & Alcohol Counseling. Interned at La Jolla Healing. Sadly, I had a short relapse which landed me at La Costa Solutions for Women Sober Living with Patti. Thankfully, One Day at a Time…I am coming up on 5 years of sobriety! I am very active in the local recovery community and love spending my time being of service to others…the key to staying sober!
